I have been directly inspired by reading the book Half The Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. I was reminded of the life long burning passion inside me that believes foremost in standing up for women and children around the world. (Not to the exclusion of others.) Upon revisiting stories of the present day atrocities (that word does not even do justice to the horrors but I know of no other stronger word) that are committed against women and children in many parts of the world the fire in my belly is reignited. Many of the stories shared in the book were of women who survived atrocious brutality and overcame their plight in some way. I feel so privileged! I h ave so many advantages that I can no longer justify keeping my voice quiet out of some perceived, psychological, non-imminent threat. I find I must dig down deep into my well of strength and simply speak my deepest truths, recognizing that if I dig deep enough that I will tunnel through the personal to unearth the universal stories of heart, spirit and soul. Stepping into the vulnerability of exposing our hearts and our truths is the path to remembrance of what we truly are and from where we come to act with love, compassion and balance with all beings and the earth - our way to sustaining life!
I want to hear the voice of the sacred feminine in all of us. I want to hear the echoes of the sacred masculine and the coalescence of the fierce sacred into union. I want to hear this through our human struggles and joys and our relationships with spirit, faith, eternal, of past and future. I want to hear the chorus of heart songs that lead us back to compassion and co-creation.
